Our last stop on our 60 day road trip before arriving back at home was in Abel, GA camping at Reed Bingham State Park. We only camped here for one night and didn’t have a chance to check out the surrounding area, but did have a chance to walk around the park and were very impressed. Georgia has some awesome State Parks. This campground has 46 campsites, they are all nicely spread out. When we camped there, there was only a handful of other campers at that time, so we were able to go into the campground and pick out whichever site we wanted. I think now you can reserve specific sites if you’d like. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. A lot of sites have full hook-ups, there are a good amount of pull-thru sites as well and some sites offer water and electric only. There is a large beautiful lake in the park that can used for fishing, boating and you can rent canoes and kayaks, if you don’t have your own.
This park offers mini golf and a really nice playground. It seems they have a good amount of activities going on from time to time in the park as well like Christmas in the Park or First Day Hike. If you are crossing thru Georgia and looking for a nice place to stay, I recommend Reed Bingham State Park.
