I have never been to Alabama before, never been to the Gulf Shores or even to the Panhandle of Florida, after living in Miami for over 10 years I figured nothing could be better than the beaches down there, well I was pleasantly surprised. We loved our visit to the Gulf Shores and can’t wait to get back some day. We stayed at Gulf State Park. We were only there one night, but loved the campground and would go back in a heartbeat. It seemed a lot of the campground had been recently renovated or was new and I think it was because of rebuilding after a hurricane had come thru awhile ago.
There are 496 Campsites at this Park, so it’s a pretty big campground. They have pull-thru sites and back-ins. All sites are full hookups and include a grill (ours was brand new) and picnic table. There are two playgrounds and we saw at least one pool, was pretty nice.
We hope to get back soon and explore the area a lot more, but if you’re traveling thru Alabama along the coast I highly recommend this campground.
