Check the RV before you make the drive.
A search around Hemet, San Jacinto, Menifee, Winchester, Temecula or Murrieta can turn into several separate trips across Riverside County. Get the important questions answered before setting aside a day to visit.
Confirm the exact unit and location.
Ask whether the specific RV is still available, when the asking price was last confirmed, where it can be viewed and who is authorized to sell it. Get a current photo and the exact year, make, model and floorplan. A similar stock photo is not evidence of that unit’s condition.
Ask about water and maintenance.
Request dated photos around roof seams, windows, slide corners, ceilings and floor edges. Ask about known leaks, repairs and maintenance records. A seller’s statement is a useful lead, not an independent test. Write down unanswered questions for an inspector.
Check real dimensions and access.
Can you reach the bathroom with the slides closed? Will the beds work for the people coming along? Does the full length fit your storage and the sites you plan to book? Verify the campground’s actual rules and site dimensions before relying on a general length label.
For a towable, use loaded numbers.
Dry weight leaves out some of what you will carry. Compare loaded trailer weight, tongue or pin weight, people and cargo, payload, hitch limits, GVWR, GCWR and axle limits. Added batteries, gear and upgrades affect the load. A VIN identifies a vehicle; it does not prove the installed equipment, hitch or actual limits.
Use the tow guideKeep the whole budget in view.
Keep the RV asking price separate from desired upgrades, inspection, travel and delivery. Get an itemized written estimate before authorizing work. Confirm access with the current owner and agree on the inspector, tested systems, limitations, payer and report date.
Decide what deserves a visit.
Compare what meets your essential needs, what misses and what remains unknown. Ask for answers before relaxing a requirement. If you want help with the research, a Scout brief lets you put those priorities in one place.
