Truck weight, combined weight and individual axle weight answer different questions.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is the permitted loaded weight of a truck or trailer. For the truck, the load includes the downward hitch load. For the trailer, use its full loaded weight against its own rating. Each vehicle must stay within its own limit.
Gross Combination Weight Rating covers the loaded truck and the loaded trailer together. If adding the truck’s unloaded weight, truck occupants/cargo and the full trailer weight, do not add tongue weight again: it is already part of the trailer’s full weight.
Gross Axle Weight Rating limits a specific axle. Being under GVWR does not prove the rear axle is under its rating. Compare hitched scale measurements for the actual trip loading. Changing loading or hitch adjustment requires checking the axle weights again.
