Get a payoff valid for the planned date

Ask your lender for the exact payoff, its expiration date and payment instructions. A displayed account balance may differ from the amount needed to close the loan. Keep account numbers and lender instructions private; your public RV page does not need them.

Identify who holds the title

For a California private sale involving loan payoff, the DMV describes a transfer involving the seller and lienholder’s release and the buyer’s submission. Confirm your actual title status and release process with the lender and DMV before setting a handover date. Different circumstances can require different documents.

Calculate proceeds or a shortfall

Enter the expected selling price, confirmed payoff and all selling costs over the same number of months. A negative result means the assumptions leave a shortfall that needs a plan. The calculator does not approve financing, value your RV or promise that a buyer will pay the expected price.

Agree on a documented closing sequence

Before releasing the RV, agree with the relevant lender and buyer on who handles payment, payoff confirmation, title release and transfer documents. An offer on WeRV does not pay off the loan or transfer ownership. Do not put financial or identity documents into a public listing or buyer chat when a controlled professional process is required.
